MALVERN seen through the eyes of four artists will be presented in a show at Theatre House.
Malvern Artists Now (MAN) are opening Contemporary Views of Malvern next Friday (April 18) at the Grange Road venue.
The week-long show brings together the work of two painters, a photographer and a ceramicist.
"The idea of the exhibition is to present to the viewer ideas about how Malvern is seen by the artist now," said painter Kate Standen, one of the four.
"Taking both traditional and more modern approaches, using a range of techniques and media, we hope to persuade the audience to look beneath the surface and experience other ways of seeing the town and Hills."
Kate is a student at Malvern Hills College and Cheltenham Art College. Her paintings and prints derive from the experience of being on the Hills and textures that she associates with local landscapes.
Rachel Pritchard is a recent ceramics graduate, whose work has already caught the eye of buyers in Australia and the United States.
Loll Cheetham takes as inspiration for her illustrations the views of Malvern usually overlooked because the Hills dominate the attention. She studied at Camberwell School of Art and has worked extensively in London.
Amanda Jackson is a student of fine art photography at Hereford College of Art and Design. She presents unconventional photos inspired by her surroundings, using unusual techniques and night photography.
The exhibition is open from 10am to 5pm, till 4pm on Sunday. It will be the first in a series of showcases for local artists at the venue, being followed by two events organised by Malvern Art Club.
