A lot can happen in a decade - children, a new house, a new job are just a few things that spring to mind.
So the fact that Peter Gabriel is embarking on a European tour for the first time in 10 years is surely something not to be missed.
Former Genesis frontman Gabriel will be bringing his Growing Up Tour to Birmingham's NEC on Monday, May 19.
Judging by what the tour has in store, the wait may be worth it, because it's a show that promises many surprises.
Fans will see Gabriel perform suspended upside down from the stage and trapped inside a giant inflatable ball.
There are boats, balls, inflatables and bicycles in the show which lasts over two hours.
Gabriel will be featuring songs from his latest album, Up Along, with some of his biggest hits, including Sledgehammer, Solsbury Hill, Mercy Street and Digging in the Dirt.
The show will encapsulate a career spanning over 20 years and 25 million album sales.
Peter will be performing alongside long-term collaborators David Rhodes on guitar, Tony Levin on bass and Richard Evans on guitars, mandolin and whistle, with newcomers. Ged Lynch on drums and Rachel Z on keyboards, along with daughter Melanie Gabriel on backing vocals.
"We worked very hard on this production and I am delighted with the results," said Peter.
"I have, however, been surprised at the small number of venues in Europe that are able to accommodate our show."
Tickets are priced £35 plus booking fee and can be purchased from the NEC box office on 0870 909 4133.
