Reality Rangers 5 Anchor Falcons 1
Despite defeat at the hands of champions-elect Reality Rangers, Anchor Falcons finished their season last Sunday safe in the knowledge that they have achieved their best league placing from three seasons to date.
A recent improvement in form led the Falcons to fifth place going into this game and they now hope that Reality can beat AFC Northwick Reserves to maintain this final position.
Reality look to be on the verge not only of promotion but probably the league championship, with a squad capable of going through the leagues, and the Falcons need feel no embarrassment over their defeat.
In fact, they could have taken a surprise lead after just 12 minutes when Rich Bryan fired home only to be judged offside.
Gradually the home side took control, although they were slightly flattered by their 3-0 half time lead.
After the break the Falcons continued to battle well and were unlucky that their half chances seemed to fall kindly for the home goalkeeper.
Reality notched two more before Chris Williams had the final say with a brilliant header from Paul Park's inch perfect cross in the 89th minute to at least give the Falcons some pride in scoring against the league's best defence.
Manager Andy Fletcher has started planning for next season already with the appointment of midfielder Mark Berry as assistant-manager and the two will use the summer to scout for new players.
With the bulk of the existing squad already committing themselves to the club for next season, hopes are high the club can be competing for promotion. Confirmation of the award winners for this season will be published soon.
The club's committee would like to thank everyone who has helped the season run so smoothly, especially Del and Jayne at the Anchor, Pam for washing the kit and Dyl Wilkins for his sterling work as secretary.
