I WOULD like to lend wholehearted support to the dilemma faced by people wanting to park in Lawnside Road, following your front page article last week (Ledbury Reporter, April 4).

I attend the 50 plus swim session at the swimming pool every Monday afternoon and in the past two months I have seen many fines on windscreens on cars parked on the grassed areas adjacent to the Community Hall. People park there out of desperation.

Last week I parked in the Somerfield supermarket and walked through town to the swimming pool. Having circled around St Katherines, Bridge Street and Lawnside car parks several times to no avail, I simply gave up.

I'm told the problem has worsened since the town's new hospital opened. The staff who work there face the same daily dilemma of inadequate parking.

Why do the planning people not think ahead. Why can the grassed areas not be converted to extra parking spaces, the road outside the hall is too narrow anyway.

Parking is a modern nightmare we face every day but its just ridiculous to pay £1.60 for a swim only to find a £60 parking fine on your windscreen when you leave the swimming pool.
