WITH glorious sunshine, little wind and the course in good condition, members of the Worcestershire have flooded to Wood Farm over the past few weeks to enjoy their favourite pastime.
With conditions so favourable for golf, the men unfortunately have had only one competition - the April mid-week Stableford.
In division two the senior golfers were well to the fore with four seniors filling the first six places.
In third place was Malvern College teacher Trevor Southall, who returned a par score of 36 points. In second place was Mike Read, who returned the excellent score of 40 points. Brass Pereira also returned with a score of 40 points but, in that he had a better back nine hole score than Mike, he was placed in first position.
Jeremy Theakstone was placed third in division one with a one over par score of 37 points. Colin Preece, belying his advancing years, was one point better than Jeremy and was placed in second position. The winner however was Simon Lane who returned to the club house with a score of 39 points.
The ladies section completed their combined April medal competition in glorious weather.
Ursula Pearson, the former Warwickshire County golfer playing off a handicap of nine, won division one with a net score of 78. In second place was schoolteacher Mary Horobin who returned a net score of 79. Liz Evans, now returned to full health, was third with a net score of 80. Former Worcestershire County player, Pat Catlin, was placed fourth.
Former lady captain, Pat Fletcher, was the winner of division two with a net score of 76. Diane Wilde was second with a net score of 77 and Alex Dunster third with a net score of 79.
