Last year Colwall Junior Cricket had great fun and much success, winning the county U15 Cup, finalists in the U13 and other teams, particularly the girls and U11, were also too strong for most opposition. The signs are we will have another great season.
The first coaching night for Colwall Junior Cricket is Wednesday, April 23. Registration is at 6pm, followed by a talk and question and answer session for parents at 6.30pm. Thereafter, each Wednesday the sessions will run from 6.30pm to 8pm.
Fixture cards for the matches will be available at the time of registration but to help prepare U17, U15 and U13 will be on a Sunday, Girls, U11 and U10 on a weekday evening. It will be helpful for you to tell your manager of your availability at a very early stage.
For years 3, 4, 5 and possibly 6 that are not in one of the main teams, there will be a kwick cricket tournament with sides based on pairs of schools.
The club is offering free Worcestershire CCC membership to all its junior members.
Each week the club will run a second-hand cricket equipment stall so you can recover the expense of kit that is still in good condition but just too small and replace it at reasonable cost.
With regard to kit helmets and abdominal protectors (boxes) are compulsory for all hard or semi-hard ball practice. The club has a reasonable supply of helmets to borrow, boxes cost about £2.50.
