TRIUMPHANT Kidderminster Harriers manager Jan Molby is convinced his table-toppers can go on and clinch promotion to the Football League.
The former Liverpool star was in confident mood after plotting a priceless 2-0 Nationwide Conference win over title rivals Rushden & Diamonds at Aggborough.
Molby said: "My gut feeling for a long time has been that it's going to take a very good side to finish above us in the league and I haven't changed my mind."
Kidderminster now lead the Nationwide Conference table by six points over big-spending Rushden who have played one more match.
Molby, however, is now looking for Harriers to go on and secure the title which they won in 1994, but were denied a place in the Football League be-cause their ground was not up to the required standard.
Millionaire Aggborough chairman Lionel Newton, however, has already assured fans he will personally make sure such a situation will not arise again if promotion is secured.
Although delighted with Saturday's victory in front of a sell-out 6,250 crowd, Molby is warning his players that the title race is far from over.
He said: "At the end of the Rushden game there was nothing for us. There was no trophy for us to hold up, so we have got to keep our feet on the ground and battle for the next seven games. A lot of those will be very difficult.
"We haven't got a lot of games where the teams we are playing against haven't got a lot to play for, so it will be very, very tight."
Molby's caution follows in the wake of the 1997 season when Kidderminster let a 15 points lead slip through their fingers in an amazing turnaround to the Conference title chase.
On that occasion Macclesfield Town, who had games in hand, produced a storming run of eight successive wins and ultimately edged Harriers out by five points.
Rushden will be bidding to pick up the pieces tomorrow night when they return to Conference duty with a trip to relegation-threatened Woking.
After that their remaining games are against Altrincham (home, April 15), Southport (away, April 22), Scarborough (home, April 29), Welling (away, May 1) and Doncaster (home, May 6).
Kidderminster complete their programme with matches against Southport (away, April 15), Northwich Victoria (April 22, home), Dover Athletic (April 24, away), Woking (April 29, away), Forest Green Rovers (home, May 1), Sutton United (away, May 3), Altrincham (May 6, away).
