WORCESTER City's FA Umbro Trophy second round tie at Hendon tonight has been postponed for a second time.

The pitch at the Loot Stadium is still waterlogged and failed to pass a morning inspection.

The sides will now try for a third time next Monday (ko 7.45pm) to see who will entertain Tiverton Town in the next round on January 13.

The new date means that City's Dr Martens Cup second round tie at Tamworth, scheduled for next Tuesday, has been put back to the following week.

City return to Dr Martens League Premier Division action on Saturday with a crucial game at title favourites Burton Albion.

The bad weather is hampering midfielder Andy Ellis' bid for a return to full fitness, but manager John Barton remains pleased with his progress.

He hopes to give him a reserve outing before Christmas, which would be his first competitive action since breaking a leg at Tamworth in January.

Barton said: "He has trained with us for the last two or three sessions and it is great to see him back as part of the group.

"We are going to give him all the help we can to get him back to the level of performance he was showing before his injury."

Tonight's home Central Conference clash with Burton Albion has been postponed.

The wet weather also wrecked last night's programme of local matches.

Kidderminster Harriers and Hereford United's scheduled LDV Vans Trophy first round games both fell victim to waterlogged pitches.

Kidderminster's home game with Carlisle United was called off at 7pm with a new date yet to be announced.

Hereford's match with Nationwide Conference leaders Yeovil will now take place at Edgar Street next Tuesday (7.45).

Also off were Evesham United's FA Umbro Trophy tie at Cinderford Town -- they will try again on Tuesday (7.45) -- and Stourport's Davis League Cup clash at Oadby Town.

Meanwhile, Kidderminster's Nationwide League Division Three match at Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, December 16, has been designated all-ticket for away supporters.
