TRIALIST striker Andy Hodgetts scored twice as Worcester City beat old rivals Hereford United 3-2 in a Central Conference League Cup tie last night.
The former Kidderminster and Evesham striker gave City a 12th minute lead with a cool finish after running onto Danny Scheppel's pass.
James Quiggin equalised with a spectacular shot on the turn on 23 minutes, but a fine individual goal from Jamie Hyde restored City's advantage on 58 minutes.
Hodgetts then topped a fine performance with a stunning 25-yard drive to make it 3-1 eight minutes later.
David Pearson pulled one back on 74 minutes, but City held on. A further bonus was that defender Martin Weir and striker Carl Tranter both played the full 90 minutes and should now be in contention for Saturday's Dr Martens League Premier Division game at Stafford Rangers.
