STRIKER Ian Foster grabbed two crucial goals to lift Kidderminster Harriers back into the play-off zone but admitted they would have to improve on Saturday.

And Foster, who has now scored seven goals despite only 11 starts, said the players were told as much in the changing room after the game.

Harriers entertain Macclesfield Town at the weekend, a team that have struggled near the bottom this season but are now nine points away from danger.

Foster said: "Against so-called lesser teams, we don't play to the max like we did against Rochdale and Hull.

"My goal settled us down but we didn't really come up with the performance.

"It was good enough to win against Halifax but we will struggle against anyone else and be punished.

"It's no excuse but you see this at every level. Liverpool beat Manchester United but cannot beat Southampton.

"We have to raise our game for Macclesfield though."

With Colin Larkin hobbling off with a hamstring strain, Foster's goals give him a good chance of a recall.

He is also hoping to secure a new deal when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

Foster added: "I have to bide my time, keep getting the goals, get some more starts and go from there.

"I don't want to set myself any goal targets. The target for me is to make the play-offs with the team.

"If the boss wants me to stay, he will bring me into the office to talk about it. It would be nice to stay."

The striker will certainly get few easier goals than Tuesday's first but he suggested his cheeky late chipped penalty was probably a one-off.
