IT IS to Colin Larkin's credit that he has not been put off by recent results at Kidderminster Harriers.
The young on-loan Wolverhampton Wanderers striker could easily have been one of the players to hide as they searched for a first win in nine games at Macclesfield.
But, along with the rest of his team-mates, Larkin produced a determined performance that led to Harriers' 1-0 win.
As well as scoring his first league goal, the Irish youth international had the opportunities to score a hat-trick.
A delighted Larkin, 19, declared afterwards: "I would like to stay here for another two months.
"It has been much better than playing reserve-team football. I get to play in front of crowds and gain experience from it all.
"It was brilliant to get the goal, especially considering the game. It was a good result away from home."
Larkin admitted the three points at Macclesfield, lifting Harriers up the Division Three table, were crucial.
Boss Jan Molby had been demanding a win before the match.
Larkin, who looks like he will continue to torment defences with his pace, said: "The win was all down to hard work and it was a battle.
"The lads were all talking at half-time and saying that we really needed this. The season must really start from here."
The teenager acknowledged his missed chances, joking he could have hurt somebody with the late sitter he put over the bar.
"One of them was bound to go in and for that I'm quite happy.
"On another day I would probably have scored them all but that's the way it goes sometimes."
And the physical demands of Division Three have not necessarily surprised Larkin.
He said: "You get experienced defenders down here and I wouldn't say it's easier than the First or Second Division.
"Some people say it's harder and certainly more physical. There's a lot of battling as well as some nice football.
"In fact, I've noticed I get the ball more to feet at Kidderminster. At Wolves, it was more over the top.
"Unfortunately, I don't think I kept the ball that well at Macclesfield. I know I need to work on my strength because I'm not the biggest of lads."
And Larkin's link with the physical game of Drewe Broughton in attack looks promising.
He added: "Drewe takes the pressure off me. I'm really happy to play with him."
