IAN Clarkson is looking forward to resurrecting his career with Kidderminster Harriers.
The former Birmingham City defender is due to sign an 18-month contract with Harriers tonight.
The 28-year-old made over 300 Football League appearances for Birmingham, Stoke City and Northampton Town, but missed almost the whole of last season after breaking a leg playing for Northampton, which forced his retirement from League soccer.
He said: "It is just nice to get back playing. I tried to get back this season but found I couldn't do the day-to-day training. Training just once a week and playing, I should be OK.
"I have 400 first team games behind me so hopefully I should have something to offer."
Clarkson is excited at the prospect of joining Harriers. "All the people I have spoken to in non-league circles have given the club a glowing reference. It is a well-run, professional club and Jan Molby's credentials speak for themselves."
However, should Harriers get promoted to the Nationwide League, Clarkson will be unable to join them as he is due to receive an insurance pay-out following his retirement. "I haven't received it yet but the Professional Footballers' Association have said there will be no problem.
"They have told me I can't play league football again and, to be honest, I don't think I could."
n Worcester City won 5-2 at Pegasus Juniors in the Midland Floodlit Youth League Southern Division last night.
