LAST year, Julian Thake didn't hesitate to accuse me of being selective with my facts. I see he's no stranger to the practice himself.

In response to the Phillpott File, he drew all sorts of parallels between Hitler and Saddam (You Say, Tuesday, April 2)

Well, how about a few more selected facts? For example:

Neville Chamberlain was civil enough to go and meet Hitler personally, before Britain declared war on Germany.

As far as I know, Messrs Bush and Blair made no attempt to meet Saddam, before they declared war on Iraq, on our behalf.

Unlike Herr Hitler, some of Saddam's weapons of mass destruction were supplied by American and British governments.

And when the then equally tyrannical Saddam used these same weapons on his own people, the American and British government conveniently looked the other way.

Also last year, Mr Thake was a staunch supporter of the UK embargo on the Iraqi people. In contrast, his letter is now supporting the predominately western force - acting outside UN regulations/sanctions - in waging war on innocent Iraqi people.

I wonder how does Mr Thake justify his brand of Christian fundamentalist views - over the present war on Iraq - with Christ's teaching?
