TENBURY'S Jubilee Arch, complete with inscription, has been installed at The Burgage, thanks to the skill and generosity of a young Tenbury blacksmith.

James Drewball, 18, from Burford, wanted to do his bit for the Queen's Golden Jubilee, so, supported by deputy mayor of Tenbury, Cllr Janice Gluyas, he has designed and created a decorative wrought iron arch, entwined with small, bright green ivy leaves, to commemorate the event.

A delighted town council agreed the gift should take a prominent place in the Burgage, Tenbury's public park.

Cllr George Price, chairman of parks and cemetery and his deputy, Cllr Pat Bradley, joined James at the Burgage when the arch was fixed in place beside the bowling green.

Cllr Bradley said: " It is encouraging and gratifying to see young people contributing to their community in this way. We are extremely pleased to have James's work on display."

Last September, James qualified in blacksmith and equine skills at the Centre for Rural Crafts in Hereford. He is currently looking for an apprenticeship.

Cllr Gluyas said: "James has produced a first class piece of work and a fine addition to the town."
