AS films go, Johnny English is not the best but it does provide some good laughs to pass 90 minutes of an evening.
Rowan Atkinson plays the hapless secret agent in Peter Howitt's superspy spoof based on the character and side-kick Bough (Ben Miller) made famous by a series of credit card commercials in the 1990s.
English sets about trying to single-handedly save his country from Pascal Sauvage (John Malkovich), a Frenchman trying to be crowned King of England.
The plot sounds daft and it is but it occasionally allows Atkinson to demonstrate the comedy that made him famous as Mr Bean and Blackadder.
The script, possibly guilty of trying to get too many laughs, is not particularly strong and in places relies heavily on Atkinson's ability to generate any comedy.
Ex-Neighbour turned occasional pop star Natalie Imbruglia co-stars as Lorna Campbell who eventually joins forces with English in his quest.
