TWO goals by Wesley Joyce, on his return to the side after injury, steered Evesham United to a 3-1 win against Cinderford Town at Causeway Ground last night.
It ended a run of three games without a goal for the Robins and lifted them one place to ninth in the Dr Martens Western Division.
United, though, made the worst possible start, falling behind after only three minutes. Jamie Hammond crossed to the near post and Daryl Addis netted with a close range header.
On a dreadful pitch, United took a while to get going but once they settled down there was only going to be one winner.
Mark Shepherd volleyed wide and the robust, Joyce, had a couple of efforts saved as United took control.
Two goals just before half time, put the Robins in the driving seat.
On 41 minutes, Andy Smith played the ball over the Cinderford defence to Shepherd, and he steadied himself before lobbing home over the advancing Andy Fisher.
Two minutes later, Inderpaul Khela won possession on the left and squared to Joyce who lashed in number two.
Early in the second half, Nick Heath sent over a cross from the left and Khela's header looked all over a goal until Fisher made a wonderful stop to keep the ball out.
Joyce was reigning in shots from all angles and eventually got himself on the score sheet again with 12 minutes to go. Shepherd set him up just inside the Cinderford box and he scored with a powerful drive past Fisher.
