GIRLS at Aston Fields Middle School are aiming to add a third football title to their season's collection at the end of this month.

The seven-a-side team, from the Drummond Road school, aged 11 and 12, have so far won a five-a-side tournament and the district cup.

Now they want the treble with the North Worcestershire U12s cup final against Alvechurch on Monday, April 28.

Following that, several members of the team will also compete in the U13s final.

In November, the team, coached by Kieran Murphy, won the county section of a nation five-a-side event before losing in the last four of the regional finals.

They were then within touching distance of glory in the international Fox Kids cup in January. Forty teams entered the Birmingham area finals and Aston Fields finished runners-up.

But the team did go one better by winning the Bromsgrove District Council girls' football festival crown and thrashing Catshill 7-0 in the final.

The team, captained by Beth Lacey, have been together for over a year and, as a year six side, were runners-up at the Worcestershire Youth Games, due to be held again this June.

Mr Murphy said: "They work well for and with each other. They are a combination of ability and talent."
