BETTY Long welcomed 55 members to the April meeting and thanked Joan English for organising a very enjoyable trip to Bridgnorth, Broseley and Telford, where members enjoyed a good luncheon and found they were eating off antique Coalport China! Mr Southern, the owner of the hotel, gave a talk about his collection to the ladies after the meal.
A further outing is arranged to Shugborough on May 14 and the summer dinner will be on July 14 at the Lenchford, Shrawley. In the meanwhile, members had to 'make do' with coffee and hot cross buns at the end of the April meeting.
Gabriella Leonwicz was the speaker calling her talk an informal chat with Gabriella. This turned out to be an hilarious series of reminiscences of family history, sometimes delivered in her own broad Black Country accent, and sometimes imitating her mother's Polish accent. Next month the club celebrates its 21st birthday and will have a very special cake to mark the occasion. The speaker will be James Skerrett - painting ceramics.
