WE were brought up to date with WI business by our vice president Mrs J Lang, before being introduced to Mr E Goss, our speaker for the evening.

Laughter is the best medicine was the title, and Mr Goss did his best to put this into motion. Women are reputed to laugh more than men, and children considerably more than senior citizens. The healing powers of laughter are believed by many; in Australia, laughter rooms may be part of a patient's treatment. Mr Goss, a Welshman, gave us many examples of how to put laughter into practice including the facts that smiling makes us look younger, laughter tapes and: Welshmen are tall, dark and handsome, Wave both their arms when they speak. Welshmen drink gallons of beer, That is why their emblem is a leek.

Our competition, a happy photograph, was judged by none other than Mr E Goss.
