LEISURE chiefs in Bromsgrove are extending their activities programme for adults with the introduction of tennis sessions.

From the middle of May, tennis and coffee will be available at the town's Sanders Park on Thursday mornings. While tennis and tea will be on offer at Rubery Leisure Centre in Holywell Lane, on Tuesday afternoons.

Tennis coaching will be available, with a qualified Lawn Tennis Association coach, for those who wish to improve their level of play.

Cheryl Holder, Bromsgrove District Council's sports development manager, said: "It is important for us all to keep fit. We already run a wide range of activities for youngsters and are concentrating on expanding our Active Adults programme of activities.

"The twice-a-week tennis sessions will run in line with our very popular Walking the Way to Health project. And in addition to the Active Adults trampolining, which takes place at The Dolphin Centre on Mondays, between 10.45am and 12.15pm.

"We hope these activities will also give those people who were unable to enjoy them when they were younger, a chance to make up for lost time," she added.

The tennis sessions will last two hours between 10am and 12noon every Thursday at Sanders Park and between 2 and 4pm on Tuesday afternoons at Rubery Leisure Centre. Each tennis session costs £3.

Anyone wanting more details, or who would like to book a place, should contact Cheryl at The Council House on 01527 881315. Promotional information is also available at either venue.
