A YOUNG man was the victim of a vicious attack which left him with two cuts to the head requiring 13 stitches.
The 20-year-old was driving a red Ford Fiesta with three male teenage passengers down Lyttleton Avenue, Charford, when the attack happened. A silver Volkswagen Golf drove in front of the Fiesta, which then stopped.
The occupants of the Golf got out of the car and dragged the driver and his passengers out of the Fiesta. It is believed the gang were armed with weapons, possibly baseball bats and batons.
They attacked the four men. The driver suffered two large cuts to the head, which required 13 stitches and cuts to his back. He was taken to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch and remains in a comfortable condition.
Two of the passengers were also taken to the Alexandra Hospital and were treated before being discharged.
The gang, believed to number three or five, also damaged the car, smashing all the windows. After the attack they got back into their Golf and drove off towards Charford Road.
The attack took place on Monday, April 7, at around 9.30pm and officers have since carried out house to house inquiries and a forensic examination of the car.
The description of the offenders is that they were wearing dark clothing and possibly balaclavas.
Detective Sergeant Mark Glazzard said: "This was a nasty and vicious attack on a young man and a group of teenage lads. We are yet to establish what the motive was for this incidents and would like to speak to anyone who witnesses it who has not already spoken to the police."
