LUCTONIANS moved closer to a place in the National Division Three North with this demolition of Walsall to clinch runners-up spot in their last Midlands 1 match of the season.
The north Herefordshire side will now face North 1 runners-up Macclesfield in a play-off match at Kingsland, on Saturday, April 26. In a fast and furious encounter Luctonians always looked dangerous and took a 19-3 interval lead with tries from centre Jon Goodwin, full-back Jeremy Wheadon and flanker Simon Lewis, Wheadon adding two conversions.
Luctonians continued to control the play after the break and doubled their tally with further tries from centre Roger Chilman, Wheadon and scrum-half Steve Saint. Full-back Wheadon completed a fine game with another two conversions to take his match tally to 18 points.
