SNOOKER players from Droitwich Spa are celebrating after notching up 100 points to successfully defend the district championship.
Droitwich Spa Snooker Centre 'A' defeated the town's Royal British Legion 4-1 in their final match on Tuesday, April 4, to win the Droitwich and District Snooker League division one for the second year running.
Spa's seven-man squad, who are also in the semi-final of the Ansells Cup, won 22 of 24 matches to take them to the 100-point tally, five points clear of runners-up Millfields 'B' from Bromsgrove.
Captain Dave Guise said: "I am absolutely delighted. We have had some tough matches but the whole team played their part."
Droitwich player Garry Ford also had reason to celebrate as his frame victory in the final match gave him the best average score in the league, winning 21 from 23 frames.
Joining Guise's side in the top flight next season will be Bromsgrove Royal British Legion 'B', clear winners of division two.
