AFTER complaints about the noise from a Kempsey motorcycle rally, this year's event will be monitored by environmental health officers.

Other measures will also be taken to reduce any disturbance, such as moving a marquee to another field and facing the stage in a different direction, parish councillors heard.

The In the Frame rally during the weekend of August 22-24 will be held at the Farmers Arms on Kempsey Common, which has applied for an occasional entertainment licence.

Entertainment

Members of Kempsey Parish Council heard that entertainment would end at 12.30am on Saturday night and 10.30pm on Sunday.

Monitoring officers would visit the site and officers from the Malvern Hills environment team would be on stand-by to respond to any complaints.

"Our one concern is that we own common land around the site and would prefer not to have any camping there if possible," said parish chairman Joy Clee.

Lesley Maclean, of the Farmers Arms, said afterwards that the rally was a tickets-only event and most of the bikers were "getting on a bit."

"The marquee will be two acres from the pub and the stage will be parallel with the motorway, facing away from us.

"They keep it contained and will be camping on our land, not on the common," she said.
