A CHARITY offering information and support to carers of people suffering from dementia is hoping to set up an advice office in the centre of Kidderminster.
The Wyre Forest branch of the Alzheimer's Society currently runs a carers' support group at the town's library each Friday but wants to expand its services.
Secretary Ray Saull said an analysis of comments from those who used the branch indicated a drop-in centre offering information, advice and support was needed.
An estimated 1,060 people in Wyre Forest have dementia and for many carers it is a hard and distressing time, said branch chairman Eunice Pritchard.
Mr Saull said the group was looking for an office, preferably on a ground floor, to rent.
"We run entirely on voluntary contributions so the level of rent is an issue. It might be a possibility that we share a centre with another charity," he said.
The branch is launching a series of fund-raising events to pay for rent and running costs with a concert by the Valentines Ladies Choir at St Anne's Church, Bewdley, on Saturday, May 17 at 7.30pm.
Further details on the concert can be obtained by calling Claire Edwards on 01562 827529.
