POLICE have snubbed residents' calls for a crackdown on noisy bikers parking illegally in Bewdley.
Insp Jim Baker, of Kidderminster Police, said the response to problems on Severnside North would in future be "negligible".
He said police would not be prepared to persistently visit the riverside street when called to move bikers on, even if they were parked on double yellow lines.
Residents often complained about noise from machines, a regular sight on the road at weekends, but Insp Baker said other issues needed to take priority.
He said: "I have to consider the needs and expectations of the whole community, which means making difficult judgements."
The news was met with a strong reaction at a public meeting at the Cock and Magpie pub called by Insp Baker last week, with several residents walking out.
Among those who left early were mayor Frank Baillie and Severnside North resident and town councillor Louise Edginton.
Mrs Edginton said: "I thought we were not doing any good and left.
"What gets me is that it is clear the police will not give out a ticket, even if they have time.
"I am fortunate enough to be able to have a back room but it must be horrendous for people who have to sit at the front of their houses. It is so noisy."
Jerry Akathiotis, who owns the Merchant House Fish Bar, said: "I am disappointed with the police response.
"It seems that if I park my car on the street I can get a ticket, but for motorbikes it is OK. The only workable solution is to pedestrianise the road at weekends."
Insp Baker said: "In future the police response to motorcycle parking issues on Severnside North will be negligible.
"I have to manage residents expectations, explain my decision-making process and balance the needs of residents suffering damage and theft offences against those who make persistent calls about parking issues.
"I am prioritising the issues."
