MOTORSPORT: Brothers Alistair and Andrew Adams have been celebrating their first overall victory at a rally driving event.

They guided their Ford Escort RS through the challenge in Llangollen, Wales, quickest to take the Astra Stages Clubmans Rally.

The event was a round of the Kumho Clubsmans Rally Championship which is a national series taking crews across the island from Yorkshire to Wales.

Bewdley's Alistair, 32, and navigator Andrew, 34, were up against 40 other drivers and produced a fine performance to win by 26 seconds ahead of Ieuan Rowlands and Andy Davies.

The pair rode their luck at times, getting through a puncture at the end of the final stage and a faulty wheel bearing during the day.

Andrew, of Kidderminster, said: "We had a massive accident a while back which destroyed our car so we had a year out from competition and this was a great return for us."

They had a useful result in the first round of the series in North Yorkshire back in February, finishing fifth.

The Adams are now preparing for the Mutiny.com Rally in Builth Wells on May 31.
