A CAMPAIGN to catch vehicle tax dodgers has been a major success and helped to catch a host of other offenders.
Almost 200 vehicles were wheelclamped by the DVLA during March after West Mercia Police manned road checkpoints in an attempt to crack down on drivers without a valid tax disc.
And more than 100 other offences were discovered across the police district as a result of the checks, including the use of unroadworthy vehicles and driving without insurance.
The crackdown led to 110 unroadworthy vehicles going to the crusher and the remaining 88 returning to their owners, with a £200 bill attached.
