I WISH to clarify part of your article last week about the closure of Aggborough Post Office in Kidderminster
There is no such thing as the "Government policy to start paying benefits and pensions directly into bank accounts".
Instead pensioners and other benefit recipients now have three choices as to how they would like to receive their benefits.
They can, if they choose, opt to have their benefits paid directly into a bank account. They can also take advantage of new basic bank accounts, which also allow them to access their cash at the Post Office, or they can opt for the new Post Office Card Account allowing people to collect their money at the Post Office at the same times as now.
Customers do not need to decide which of the three options to choose until they are written to by the Department for Work and Pensions.
Some people will already have received their letters, others will be written to as the changes are phased in over the next two years.
