AS ward councillors, my wife and I were invited to a meeting with the police and residents to discuss the illegal parking of motorcycles along Severnside North, Bewdley.
Inspector Jim Baker was reported as saying that it was time for the police to draw a line in the sand with regards to this ongoing problem.
Well, he certainly did that! He made it plain that the police had more important things to do than uphold the law with regards to illegal parking and obstructing the footpaths in Bewdley.
Most of the residents left the meeting early feeling let down and disgusted with his comments.
We had hoped that we had found the motorcyclists a special place for them to park in the Dog Lane car park but Severn Trent have refused to let them use it.
Thousands of pounds have been spent on Severnside North with block paving and bollards to create a safe walkway along the riverside, yet this is often obstructed by illegally parked motorcycles. The path next to the houses has been widened to make the area more pedestrian friendly yet cars frequently park on it without fear of prosecution. We wonder why!
