WESTFIELDS increased their lead to 12 points in the West Midlands League Premier Division with a 1-0 win at Lye Town last night.
Lye were defending a 16-match unbeaten league record but Westfields went close several times in the first-half through Rob Weaver, Derek Craddock and Wayne Hoskins.
Jon Pugh in the Westfields goal made two excellent saves as the home side stormed back.
After the break Scott Jackson rattled the Lye bar with a fierce drive and the returning Sam Bowen sent a free-kick inches past the upright.
But the deadlock was broken in the 78th minute when Mark Hibbard seized on a poor backpass and rounded Hampton in the Lye goal to score.
Pegasus Juniors' Cherry Red Records Hellenic League Premier Division clash with Gloucester United was postponed as Gloucester could not raise a team.
