At the second annual meeting of the Kidderminster branch, the committee was re-elected en bloc.
Gordon Forrest talked about Upton Warren Reserve, owned and maintained by Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, which includes the Flashes Pool, a designated SSSI due to its salt water.
Members visited the reserve where they saw or heard 56 species, including a kingfisher, peregrines, redshank, little ringed plover, gadwall, linnet and jack snipe, a nesting mute swan being protected from canada geese by its mate, and a lapwing which was mobbing oystercatchers.
The final indoor meeting of the season, is on Wednesday, when Brian Draper will present an illustrated talk entitled Birds and Other Wildlife of the Upper Severn.
On Sunday, April 26 the outdoor meeting is to Checkhill Lane/Gothersley Lock, leaving Greensforge Lane at 10am.
The second "dawn chorus" walk on Kinver Edge is on Sunday, May 11, leaving the warden's lodge at 5am.
