YOUNGSTERS at a Kidderminster school took a break from their Easter holidays this week to return to the classroom to be dished up extra help in maths and English.
In the first two-day event of its kind at Sladen Middle School 26 pupils, aged 10 and 11, worked on a project to open an imaginary restaurant.
Their assignments included designing menus and logos, drawing up plans for the lay-out of the restaurant and writing a fictitious letter of complaint.
Literacy co-ordinator Rebecca Dunkley, who ran the course with another teacher and a teaching assistant, said it had been possible through the offer of Government money to cover costs.
Headteacher Tom Revell said he was delighted with the response from both staff and pupils.
"Knowing how hard staff work during term time I am surprised they have the energy to volunteer to run holiday activities, but that's professionalism for you," he added.
