BOURNVILLE failed to fulfil the re-arranged league game on Saturday so Badsey's league season ended with a whimper rather than a bang.
However, they were already five points clear of their nearest rivals which means they ended the season as champions of Worcestershire League Division Two.
Badsey had a magnificent season, losing only two games all year, and now find themselves promoted to Division One, replacing local rivals Evesham who were relegated.
This is a tremendous achievement by a committed squad of players, aided by coach Jim Goldstraw.
Badsey are also indebted to regular umpire Graham Shenton and to their loyal band of supporters for their encouragement.
Badsey had a glimpse of what may lie in store for them next year when they took part in the Worcestershire County tournament on Sunday. Drawn in the hardest group, Badsey achieved good results against Evesham and Droitwich First, narrowly lost to Bournville First, and finally lost a well contested game to the eventual tournament winners Stourport First.
Karen Moore was voted player of the tournament by the team.
Badsey will continue their fitness training after the Easter break on Wednesday evenings at Evesham High School. They will also be playing in the summer league during July and August.
They are now looking for new players to strengthen their existing squad in time for next season's new challenge.
Anyone interested can contact either Jane Rickey on 01386 833947 or Jim Goldstraw 07977 542836 for further details.
