THINGS are hotting up for a hard house night in Worcester with plenty of big-name DJs taking to the stage.

Red-blooded males will be pleased to hear that Charlotte Birch will be coming to Westside, Worcester, next Friday, where she will be joined by Nick Rafferty for the monthly Friday night called Pulse.

The male of the species will also be over the moon to know that ex-page three girl Lisa Pin Up will be spinning the wax at Pulse in June.

"Lisa Pin Up came along before Charlotte Birch, she was one of the first DJs to make it big," says Jay Wood, one of the founders of the night.

"She has a great following in clubland."

Pulse came about in November last year after the success of a night called Sunday Sessions, founded by Jay with his DJing friends Craig Holloway, Andy Wild and Sean Molloy.

The lads wanted to bring a hard house night to Worcester after they became fed up with travelling to Birmingham to see big name DJs, where they were forced to fork out for sky-high admission and bar prices.

The Sunday night soon attracted a sizeable following to its home in Worcester's Westside, with people drawn by its three resident DJs - co-founder Craig Holloway, plus Sam Hudson and DJ Mogsy.

Jay and the crew then took a gamble and booked DJ Ian M to play a Friday night set, which they named Pulse.

"It took a lot of hard work, but the rooms were transformed to give a more dub atmosphere," says Jay.

"The night was a huge success and was packed out. Even Ian M said how much he loved the raw, underground feel of the club and would love to return soon.

"I can see the night continuing for the foreseeable future."

Pulse has two rooms, a main one where all the DJs play, and a smaller one featuring funky house music. It runs from 8pm until 2am.

Andy Farley will be coming to the club on Friday, May 23, and Lisa Pin Up will be hitting the decks on Friday, June 27.

Next Friday, Charlotte Birch and DJ Nick Rafferty from Sundissential are the big attractions, with the night in aid of the Air Ambulance.

Westside is behind the Evening News building in Hylton Road.

Tickets are available from DJ Kingdom, Trinity Street, Worcester, or the ticket hotline at Westside on 01905 429300 and 01905 429041.
