A prominent landmark is to be renovated to become six residential flats.

The 19th Century Italiante-style Aldwyn Towers, at 21 St Ann's Road, is currently designed as a nursing home, which closed some years ago.

Malvern Hills District Council's southern area planning sub-committee has now approved an application by London developers Danriss Property Corporation PLC to redevelop the Grade II listed site.

A single storey extension will be added at basement level at the rear, as well as a replacement conservatory and platform to the north for off-road parking.

At Wednesday's meeting, local councillor Beryl Hickling said she hoped the work would be carried out quickly.

"This application presents a significant opportunity to restore and enhance the appearance of a Grade II listed building," she said.
