TWO donkeys attended a service for Palm Sunday.
Parishioners of St Edburga's accompanied the animals from Suckley to the church in Leigh in a symbolic recreation of Christ's arrival in Jerusalem.
The donkeys, Modes-tina and Ben, started with five people in Suckley, gathering more as they went, arriving at the church with 30 adults and 15 children.
Those at the church came outside to greet them, waving palms branches to recreate how the people of Jerusalem greeted Christ as he rode down from the Mount of Olives.
Modestina and Ben, who live in Suckley, circled the church with the entire group, who sang All Glory Laud and Honour.
Rev Andrew Bullock said his twin sons Edwin and Barnaby, aged two and a half, enjoyed riding on the donkeys' backs. He added the donkeys even joined the congregation in church.
