HEREFORD golfer David Park faces an uphill battle to make the cut at the Algarve Open.
Park shot a six-over-par 78 in the first round, which included a triple-bogey six at the 16th hole.
It left him in joint 118th place, a full 14 shots behind leader Fredrik Jacobson of Sweden who shot a fine 64.
Only four of the 156-strong field broke 70 on the demanding lay-out. England's Greg Owen was delighted with his 66 to be three clear of third-placed pair Bradley Dredge and Carlos Ro-diles, but even that left him two behind.
