FORMER community safety officer and Labour candidate Geoff Williams said he knew the value of beat police to reassure residents.
However, he said crime and anti-social behaviour were best tackled by the police working with the council, other agencies and local people.
"Worcester's partnership, Safer Worcester, which I attend, has been successful in securing anti-social behaviour orders against individuals who persistently commit vandalism and other anti-social acts," he said. "I will press for similar orders where needed."
Councillor Williams, who is the sitting councillor in Holy Trinity ward, agreed that speeding traffic was a problem in the area.
Safety measures
"I argued for safety measures in Holly Mount Road, and I am seeking further restrictions in other roads," he said.
He also backed the call from residents for better facilities for young people.
"Local facilities for play and young people are in short supply," he said.
"I supported the campaign for an improved Tolladine Community Centre, which with the help of Government money will provide better facilities for pre-school and older kids - but we need to work together for more," he added.
