YOUNGSTERS have the opportunity to take part in a nationwide campaign organised by the BBC's Blue Peter to raise money for Leukaemia Research.

This will be the third time that bikes and trikes will ride out in support of the show's Bikeathon raising money to fight the disease, which accounts for more than 50 per cent of all childhood cancers.

Worcestershire organiser Jackie Smith said there will be nearly 100 events taking place across the country.

"It's really inspiring that so many children are coming together to fight a disease that affects hundreds of children each year.

"Worcester children should register as soon as possible for their entry packs and get cracking on their sponsors," she said.

The Worcester Bikeathon is due to take place on Sunday, May 4, at 11am at Worcester Racecourse.

Last year, more than 20,000 children across the UK raised in excess of £500,000 for the charity.
