YOUNG goalkeeper John Danby is hoping to be offered a new deal with Kidderminster Harriers after returning to Aggborough following a successful loan spell with Stourport Swifts.
The 19-year-old was recalled by Harriers boss Ian Britton recently to again act as deputy to Stuart Brock following the departure of Fraser Digby.
And now the Stoke-born stopper is hoping he will get the chance to make his mark at Aggborough.
He said: "I still haven't got a clue as to whether I'll be offered a new deal with the club.
"Hopefully I will and then I can try and improve some more and push Brocky or whoever that little bit harder for that number one shirt."
Determined Danby, a product of Harriers youth scheme after being released by West Bromwich Albion when he turned 16, admits that he will need to be patient if he intends to one day be Britton's first choice.
The six-footer said: "I knew I would start the season as number two to Brocky. But admittedly it is frustrating spending each week on the bench knowing there is very little chance of getting a game, especially when you have worked so hard in training in the lead up to the game.
"As a goalkeeper I know I have to be patient, especially when I'm still so young.
"Managers do tend to prefer older and more experienced goalkeepers, so I'll have to bide my time, keep working hard and see what happens."
