THIS year's local elections will soon be upon us once again. I would like to highlight some contrasting policies of the current city council's administration, over the last two years.

The city council has been very busy cleaning the chewing gum off the city centre but our city remains filthy with rats, feral pigeons and seagulls feeding on discarded fast food. The city may have gained more food and drink disposing outlets but two more public conveniences have been demolished.

There is still a question mark over the future of The Tudor House museum and the city's floral displays are going to be drastically curtailed. There has been an increase in road traffic markings in some residential areas but the costly Angel Street auto-bollard issue remains unresolved.

We have been told that the park-and-ride system at Perdiswell is very successful, yet there is no marked decrease in traffic on our main roads during the rush hour.
