Visitors to West Midland Safari Park at Bewdley, have had their first opportunity to see water buffalo, which have been brought in from Asia.
Bob Lawrence, head warden at the park, said the six buffalo have replaced several American bison.
"We are mainly an African reserve and the bison just did not fit in," said Mr Lawrence.
"It's just a bit of a change."
