FORMER Worcester City striker Carl Tranter has signed for promoted Bromsgrove Rovers as the club's management team bids to boost their squad for the Dr Martens Western Division campaign.

The forward, who spent half-a-season with City in the 2000-01 campaign, arrived from Bridgnorth Town last season but played just one game in Rovers' run-in after injuring himself in a Sunday league match.

But joint boss Gary Hackett has backed him to be an asset to the club.

"Carl's got a good pedigree and is a proven goalscorer," he said.

"He only played one game for us and was superb but unfortunately he was injured in a Sunday match a week after making his debut so the fans never got to see him at any length.

"But he will be a real threat for us and if we can get him firing on all cylinders he will be a handful for any team."

Hackett also revealed he was close to adding three further signings to the squad with a striker and two midfielders lined up to join the club.

"They have all said they are going to sign and hopefully we will conclude the deals over the weekend," he said.

"All three are still the right age which is important because we have got a lot of experience in the squad but we need to bring in some fresh legs and these are the type of players we are looking to sign."
