A MINUTE of madness just after the break cost Rovers three points at the Victoria Ground.
After taking the lead through Mark Bowater, the Greens pushed the self-destruct button by allowing Scott Voice to net twice in quick succession after 48 minutes.
Voice's first was a sweetly struck shot from the edge of the box and his second an equally calm penalty after Robert Hunter foolishly felled Danny Williams.
Rovers hit the front against the run of play on 24 minutes, a well placed Bowater beating bemused Bilston goalkeeper Richard Williams with a 12-yard overhead kick.
And they should have erased the memory of Voice's double whammy on 69 minutes.
With his back to goal, Greg Parkes managed to squeeze in a cross to the far post which was knocked forward by Paul Moore to Richard Ball, who inexplicably hit the bar from four yards out.
The last five minutes saw Rovers' lay siege to the visitors' goal, but to no avail. Bowater headed sub Patrick Bannister's teasing cross wide to complete a miserable night.
Rovers: Gabbidon, Dodd, Ulfig, Davies, Bowater (sub Hunter 29), Cooper, Parkes, Ball (sub Ashley 78), Moore (sub Bannister 78).
Attendance: 231. Rovers MoM: Russell Dodd.
