Redditch United 0 Solihull Borough 2
TWO goals in two minutes settled a typical last game of the season at the Valley, writes Matt Smith.
Solihull defender, Jamie Campbell and league top scorer Derek Hall both netted after the break ruining the Reds' chance of a home win.
And it could have been much worse for United after skipper Lee Knight saw red for hacking down Borough striker Naveed Armed on the edge of the box.
Last defender Knight gave referee Mark Lever no choice but to order an early bath.
High-flying Solihull, who narrowly missed out on promotion, piled on the pressure but a sturdy Reds defence kept it level at half time.
Solihull's best chance of the half came from Derek Hall after the Reds youth team keeper Chris Scott let the forward pass him on the edge of the area, but his shot was saved on the line by Nigel Niblett.
And the resulting corner, whipped in from the left, was headed on to the Reds bar by Hall again but scrambled clear.
The United goal was under siege in the second half with shots pouring in on the inexperienced Scott.
And the pressure finally told 15 minutes from time.
A pinpoint cross from the right by Craig Dutton on 73 minutes found Campbell unmarked and his powerful diving header flashed past Scott.
A minute later Hall slotted past Scott again to double the visitor's advantage.
United's only opportunity of the second half came after Paul Danks was put through by substitute Lee Booth but his powerful effort was denied by the Solihull stopper.
