Sutton Coldfield Town 2 Redditch United 1
SUTTON Coldfield Town manager Chris Keogh admitted his team had robbed Redditch after a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat for United.
Reds fans heaved a sigh of relief as forward Lee Booth finally broke his goal drought in competitive matches for the club.
The former Stourport idol fired home left-footed after 15 minutes to crown a United breakaway after Sutton lost possession on the left hand side of the United area.
And despite missing Paul Danks, Matty Hall and Richard Field through work commitments and Lee Knight with a back injury Redditch were inspired.
The solid defending and dangerous counter-attacking so conspicuous by its absence at the Valley was in evidence for much of the game but ultimately it was in vain.
Nathan Moran set up Sutton's Adam Whitehouse to claim a cruel equaliser three minutes from time and, in the cruellest of finishes for United, Moran scored an undeserved winner in injury time.
To add insult to injury it was former Redditch full back Nigel Brown, released by Reds manager Rod Brown earlier in the season, who supllied the telling pass.
"It was embarassing," said Keogh, "they deserved to win tonight and although I will obviously take the points I will have to apologise to Redditch."
