ADRIAN Dale's second successive century thwarted Worcestershire's hopes of victory in the Frizzell County Championship Division Two clash against Glamorgan at Cardiff.

Dale finished unbeaten on 127 in Glamorgan's 447 all out and Worcestershire replied with 99 for one.

Stephen Peters (39) and Graeme Hick (38) are the not out batsmen after bad light took 30 overs off the day's play.

Resuming on 290 for four, Glamorgan knew much depended on Dale and the experienced middle order batsman did not let them down.

Despite losing partners at regular intervals, he batted with great composure and converted his overnight 50 not out into a century just before lunch.

Dale and Jonathan Hughes (31) advanced their fifth-wicket stand to 68 when, with the total on 335, the latter failed to keep down a drive off Alamgir Sheriyar and was well caught by Ben Smith at cover.

Mark Wallace (9) was next to go after a stand of 34 when he attempted to cut a ball from Kabir Ali and edged a catch to wicketkeeper James Pipe.

Robert Croft came in to play in his usual positive style and scored a useful 17 before he appeared to be beaten for pace by the speedy Kabir and was clean bowled.

Glamorgan were pegged back soon after lunch when, with the total on 408, off-spinner Gareth Batty struck twice in one over to dismiss Darren Thomas (2) and Andrew Davies for a fourth-ball duck.

Thomas was bowled between bat and pad and Davies departed leg before after playing across the line to a good-length delivery.

Last man Owen Parkin (16) helped Dale add a valuable 39 for the 10th wicket before he edged Sheriyar to Vikram Solanki at first slip.

Worcestershire's bowlers stuck well to their task with pacemen Sheriyar (four for 81) and Kabir (three for 70) the pick.

In reply, Worcestershire made a steady start and reached 37 before Anurag Singh (20) played back to a good-length ball from seamer Parkin and was trapped leg before.

But skipper Hick joined forces with Peters and looked in ominously good form, striking seven fours from 56 balls, as the pair added an unbroken 62 for the second wicket.

Bad light forced a lengthy interruption after tea and the players briefly returned with Worcestershire adding 15 runs before an early close was called.
