ALAMGIR Sheriyar believes Worcestershire have battled their way into a strong position against Nottinghamshire in the rain-hit Frizzell County Championship Division Two match at Kidderminster's Chester Road ground.
The left-arm seamer grabbed 5-40 to help reduce Notts to 112-7 off 34.1 overs in reply to the County's 201.
Promotion-chasing Worcestershire's healthy progress, however, was held up when rain ended play more than three hours before the scheduled close last night.
Sheriyar took 5-21 in his opening ten-over spell after Notts had resumed on 5-1 off 3.1 overs.
He said: "It swung around a little bit in the morning, so that was quite helpful. We are always confident of knocking teams over for lower scores than we get and hopefully we are going to do that.
"We didn't bat too well on Thursday, but we have bowled well and given ourselves a chance. We have played good cricket all year, you just have to look at our results.
"If we have a good go until the end of the season we could come away with two trophies quite easily."
Sheriyar laid the foundation for his five-wicket haul by re-moving Jason Gallian and Usman Afzaal in just four balls.
* Worcestershire's Second XI match with Warwickshire at Stratford ended in a draw.
