WORCESTERSHIRE batsman Paul Pollard today announced his retirement from first-class cricket.
The 33-year-old, who has not made a first team appearance this season, has decided to call it a day following a series of injuries.
The County have released the former Nottinghamshire player from his contract for the remainder of the season so he can prepare for a career outside cricket.
Pollard said: "The body is telling me this is the time to retire. I have had an immensely enjoyable career in cricket but it is time to move over and let the younger brigade have their opportunity.
"I'd like to thank all the members and supporters at both Nottinghamshire and Worcestershire for their encouragement and friendship over the years."
